San Angelo Symphony Kicks off Holiday Season With 'The Magic of Christmas'

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Symphony is proud to present the annual Holiday Pops Concert: The Magic of Christmas, one of San Angelo’s most beloved holiday traditions, which takes place this Saturday.

“It’s a feel good moment to kick off the holiday season with your family,” said Courtney Mahaffey, Executive Director of the San Angelo Symphony.

On December 3rd, the McNease Convention Center will be hosting the symphony with special guest, soprano Meagan Hunnicutt. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and seating is limited. The symphony staff suggested guests arrive early to ensure they reserve the best seats available. Approximately 1,100 guests will be present at the concert, which will began at 7 p.m. It will feature a variety of activities to entertain everyone in attendance.

In addition to the seasonal favorites performed by the symphony, the traditional sing along will also take place. Santa Clause will be stopping by as well to greet everyone at the concert. Additionally, Ms. Hunnicutt will be performing approximately five songs.

In the spirit of the holidays and wanting to give back to the community, the symphony will be partnering up with Somebody’s Rusty, a local group that works to help the homeless community of San Angelo. They will be participating in a sock drive to provide during the cold winter months. The symphony asks that those who can participate to please bring a new packet of men’s or women’s socks the day of the concert.

The symphony is in its 67th season and greatly appreciates all the help and donations they have received from the community. This year’s title sponsors for the holiday concert are Dr. Dale and Mrs. Ellen McDonald. Mr. David and Mrs. Judith Hirschfeld sponsored the guest singer.

Tickets will be available for pre-sale this morning at 9 a.m. at the Symphony’s Office, located inside City Hall. Tickets for all adults are $30, $25 for seniors and $15 for students, children and active military.

In addition the symphony would like to remind its guests that the day of the concert the annual Christmas Lights Parade will also be going taking place. This means Concho St. at the intersection with Chadbourn St. will be closed from 5 to 8 p.m. There are alternative routes to reach the convention center, such as taking Beauregard Ave. to South Magdalen St. to East Concho Ave., which leads to the McNease Convention Center.
