Night Tours Place San Angelo's Fort Concho in Different Light

Fort Concho’s annual Night Tours on Oct. 26-27 offer the opportunity to see San Angelo’s national historic landmark “in a different light.”

The tours will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night, showcasing the fort and the interiors of some of its buildings in the evening darkness.

Tours will be self-guided on Monday, Oct. 26, at a charge of $5 for adults and $3 for seniors, active military and students ages 6-17. Guests may drop by at any time between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. for the self-guided tours.

On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the tour will be led by a guide who will walk guests throughout the site, sharing stories about the post and about some of the people who died there. Tuesday’s admission will be $8 for adults and $6 for seniors, active-duty military and students. Guests must pre-purchase tickets for the guided tour, which has limited spaces, at the Barracks 1 Visitor Center, 630 S. Oakes St. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Sundays; no tickets will be held.

The guided tour will start at 8 p.m. from the visitor center. No guided tours will be given after 8 p.m.

The West Texas Paranormal Research group will again be on hand to show visitors some of its findings and explain paranormal investigating techniques. Visitors are encouraged to bring their digital devices and search for paranormal evidence.

Refreshments and orientation will start at 8 p.m. both evenings in the visitors center.
