San Angelo Goes Dashing Through the Snow to Tinsel, Texas

“They are mothers and fathers and friends just like you and I,” Cathryn Sanders, Artistic Director of Angelo Civic Theatre, said of the actors in Dashing Through the Snow.

The cast and crew has been preparing for their performances for the past six weeks.

“We put in about fifteen hours a week,” said Curt Garnes.

The play included a diverse cast, from Lilly Wheaton, a 12-year-old actress, to Joyce Frost, who’s been performing with the theatre since the ‘70s.

The actors said throughout rehearsals the members grow into a theatrical family.

“It is great because the better we get to know each other the better we are able to perform,” Garnes said.

Dashing Through the Snow, a play set at the Snowflake Inn Bed and Breakfast in Tinsel, Texas had crowds laughing. Each act brought a different set of characters with a different set of problems to the bed and breakfast where “anything could happen, but rarely ever does.”

Frost, who played a sister to a 6-time bride-to-be in the play said, “There is so much culture in this town and having the Angelo Civic Theatre offers the community a place to come and see a live performance.”

She said it contrasted with going to a movie theatre because live performances have a human element.

“There’s always the anticipation from the audiences to see one of the actors miss a line—which we try not to do,” Frost said.

The cast agreed that with each showing the performance improves.

“The last show is always the best,” said one cast member.

Dashing Through the Snow will be showing from Dec. 8 until the 14. The theatre will be holding auditions for their next production this coming week. For more information in regards to tickets or auditions visit www.angelotheater.com.
