Global Immersion Center Features two New Shows

Angelo State University’s Global Immersion Center (GIC), formerly the Planetarium, will present two full-dome public astronomy shows each Thursday in October.

The shows will be featured from from Oct. 3-31, and are titled “Stars: The Powerhouses of the Universe”, which will run at 7 p.m., and “Expanded View” which will run at 8 p.m

Through every phase of their existence, stars release the energy that powers the universe.  “Stars: The Powerhouses of the Universe” takes audiences on a journey to the farthest reaches of our galaxy to experience both the awesome beauty and destructive power of stars.

“Expanded View” takes audiences on an exploration of some of the most beautiful deep space objects in visible, infrared and X-ray wavelengths through the eyes of the Hubble, Spitzer and Chandra space telescopes.

All the shows are open to the public with admission prices of $3 for adults and $2 for children, active military and senior citizens.  ASU students, faculty and staff are admitted free.

The GIC is located in the Vincent Nursing-Physical Science Building, 2333 Vanderventer St. For more information, call the GIC at 325-942-2136 or go online to www.angelo.edu/dept/physics/planetarium.php
