Teen Arrested for Murder in Fatal Gunfight

MIDLAND, TX – An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of Brycen Richardson in Midland.

According to authorities, on June 14th police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Chestnut St. for reports of a shooting. Before officers arrived at the scene, 9-1-1 received a call stating someone had been shot and his body had been dropped in an alleyway.

At the scene, officers located Brycen Richardson with a gunshot wound to the chest. Richardson was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police then received a second call from Cole Moody, who provided information about the incident.

According to Moody, he and the victim had arranged to sell a gun to another group of people. The duo decided they would rob members of that group.

Moody told police Richardson shot at the other group and attempted to steal their money. Members of the other group returned the fire and Richardson was shot.

Moody then dropped off Richardson in the alley and made the call to 9-1-1 before leaving the scene.

The teen was then arrested and charged with murder and his bond has been set at $1 million.
