Disturbed Man Sets Fires in CVS and Beats a Cop

MIDLAND, TX – Shortly after 6:00 p.m. Thursday officers with the Midland Police Department were dispatched to a CVS Pharmacy store for reports of a man setting things on fire inside the store.

According to MPD, when officers arrived at the scene, the suspect became agitated and refused to cooperate with officials.

The suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Anthony Robertson, then assaulted an MPD officer and a struggle ensued. Roberston was subsequently taken into custody.

Both Robertson and the officer were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The police officer was released with a fractured bone and Robertson was cleared and transported to the Midland County Detention Center.

Robertson was charged with arson, aggravated assault on a public servant, criminal mischief, and evading and resisting arrest.
