Thank God the victim here survived this encounter. This is why it is so important to take steps to defend ourselves... Guys like this don't want to mess with someone who will give some good resistance, if they had messed with the wrong person who was prepared for the reality that people do home invasions and things of that nature, the outcome would have been different for the bad guys. Of course, I wasn't there and I don't know what this man did as far as fighting back but I think it's safe to say preparedness pays off in encounters of this type. I ran a paper route on N.E. Angelo for 9 mo's every single night consecutively... I had a plan to defend myself in my car and I thank God I never had to enact that plan although I came close to having no other choice a few times. Cooler heads prevail, sometimes going the other way even if it's inconvenient is the best option but for when the bad guys bring the fight to you, it's best to be ready... there are many legally acceptable forms of using force in defense of oneself at home, in the car and out in society... I'm not sure why so many have the unrealistic view that we won't be the target of these kind of characters but I encourage folks to have some form of defense available and a survivors will to fight. Case and point, one of the suspects is still at large, he messed up and he knows that he's guilty whether anyone else knows it or not, no telling what a guy like that is capable of and I can tell you from my experience that there is no shortage of nut jobs loose in the streets every night. Spray them in the face with some roach killer, wd-40, beat them with a bat, get trained on the safe and proper use and storage of a firearm, I don't care but fight the bad guy when he brings it to you because as you can see in this encounter, the bad guy's came prepared to fight. Once again, glad that the victim is ok... the outcome could have been very different and has been in many other situations... Hope our boys in blue catch the second perp.
