Body Found in Dumpster was of a Woman

SAN ANGELO, TX — Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Christina Lopez said the body found in the dumpster this afternoon was that of a woman. Here is the story as it has unfolded Tuesday:

At 3:51 p.m.

Sheriff Jones was there early. A body was discovered inside a trash dumpster towards Grape Creek, just north of the San Angelo city limits.

Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies were seen looking for evidence as to how the body, unknown sex, ended up in the dumpster.

As of right now, they have found no clues, or any clues the Sheriff is ready to report.

The body was reported to be found inside a dumpster in the 1000 block of Cactus Lane just north of the San Angelo’s city limits.

Jones said more information may be released after his deputies are further along in the investigation.

Update 4:50 p.m.

“This is a death scene that is in an unusual location,” Sheriff Jones told us. He confirmed a body was discovered inside the dumpster in the 1000 block of Cactus Ln., just north of the city limits of San Angelo.

Jones said both the Sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Division and the Texas Rangers are investigating. “We are going to work this scene until all pieces of evidence are collected from this scene,” Jones said. That may mean working on location into the night to collect all leads possible, he added.

The body will be transported to the medical examiner’s facility in Lubbock by tomorrow morning. Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire arrived at the location and pronounced the person dead at around 4 p.m.

Jones said his office responded to a report of a dead person inside the dumpster earlier Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. He would not elaborate further on who the person was, or even give the sex of the body discovered.

He said more information may be released once investigators are further along in their work.

Update 7:16 p.m.

The female was estimated to be between the ages of 20 and 30 years of age, she said.

Lopez said the exact time of the deputies response to the notification of the body being found was 2:54 p.m.

Lopez said the Sheriff is calling the location of the discover a crime scene and law enforcement officers from both the sheriff’s office and the Texas Rangers are still working the scene as of 7:15 p.m. Tuesday night.

Does towards Grape creek cover everything north of the Tom Green county courthouse ? That location is either north San Angelo or Lakeview, not Grape Creek.
We have enough trouble out here without being tagged for San Angelo's crime sprees.

Does it make ya'll feel better to always paint Grape Creek in a bad light?

"towards Grape Creek, just north of the San Angelo city limits." is dead on. Cactus Lane is literally about 100 yards outside the City limits, and from the courthouse mentioned by west texas wanderer, it is in the direction of Grape Creek. It's not towards Mertzon or Eden. Towards Grape Creek, means what it means. It is not North San Angelo, because that would be inside the City limits, and the SAPD would be pictured instead of Sheriff Department vehicles. It's definitely not Lakeview either, for the same reasons.

So, it's not necessarily a San Angelo crime spree, as it is not inside the San Angelo city limits. It's also not tagged as a Grape Creek crime spree...

Shifting reality to play into some agenda that doesn't even make sense is pointless. I wouldn't even say anything, except that the post at 5:25pm is egregious in nature, meant to discredit reporting that is by all extents, very accurate. The only way to better pinpoint the location, would be to identify the site as about a half mile east of Brown's Pool, but dang that is being picky when the description used is accurate. It's likely nobody is ever going to think this has anything to do with Grape Creek. Lay off of Joe Hyde on this one. He is doing his job, and doing it well.

Agree that towards Grape Cteek is not the best way to describe this location. Grape Creek problems are unique and deserve special consideration. Geographically and from a criminal perspective this is North of Lake View.

Since Grape Creek wont incorporate as a city because they dont want to pay City Taxes, everything North of San Angelo city limits is Grape Creek area. Incorporate and set City Limits and pay for your own streets and maintenance instead of all County residents paying for them and you can complain.

It is still a free country, supposedly. We choose to live more independently. Sorry if that offends you.
We pay county taxes and they provide roads, sorry that you pay double. Your choice......
Also I think you have to go north of fm 2105 to be in Grape Creek school district, so south of that is San Angelo ISD. People living around the coliseum do not consider themselves living in Grape Creek.

If it makes y'all feel superior, keep taking shots at Grape Creek, but you might keep yourselves armed and wary of some of your next door neighbors.
San Angelo made the top 50 cities of crime increases, so just keep picking on your northern neighbors if it makes you feel superior.

This is a tragic event that needs to be solved and the trash who did it brought to justice then dealt with. As far as the grape creek jokes I think they are funny. Plus this couldn't have possibly have happened in grape creek . They don't , can't or just plain won't use a dumpster. Just drive out there and look for yourself.
