Miles Police Chief Busts Out-of-Towners Carrying Large Amount of Drugs

MILES, TX-- Miles' Chief of Police Quentin Watkins busted two males from Arlington for allegedly carrying a large amount of illegal drugs on Monday. The bust occurred while Winters PD and the Runnels County Sheriff's Office were busy with their drug bust according to the Runnels County S.O. Facebook page.

Watkins was conducting a traffic stop on US Highway 67 when he came across a strong odor which was presumed to be marijuana. That gave Watkins probable cause to search the rental SUV.

Upon searching the vehicle, Watkins found "two softball sized bags" that contained "high-grade" marijuana and over 1,000 Xanax bars. The search also yielded two handguns, one of which was stolen from San Angelo.

Watkins also discovered the driver of the vehicle was wanted in Arlington.

The identities of the suspects have not been released. The two were booked into the Runnels County jail.
