Chris Hartman Appears in Court Again

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Sweetwater attorney Chris Hartman appeared in the Tom Green County Courthouse again on Wednesday.

But this time, he was working as a court appointed attorney representing Perla Garza who is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  According to court documents, The 21-year-old Garza is accused of running over Jacob Galvan with a vehicle in December 2016.  Garza pleaded guilty and will return at a later date for sentencing.  Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Hartman is an unindicted co-conspirator of John S. Young and Ray Zapata.  He testified in John Young’s trial that he lied to a grand jury.  Hartman also testified in Young’s hearing for a new trial.  Hartman’s ex-wife signed an affidavit and testified that she saw him forge John Sullivan’s will.  Hartman then sued his ex-wife for defamation.

Also in Judge Weatherby’s courtroom this morning 24-year-old William Claude Gregory pleaded guilty to evading arrest. He was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay $3,502 in restitution.

While there are many, many more serious crimes, Gregory shocked the witnesses in the courtroom when he was called to sit before the judge.  Gregory took his seat with his defense attorney with his back to the two police officers, an elderly couple, two women who work in the court system and this reporter.  We all stared in disbelief.  Gregory had F*** YOU tattooed on the back of his head in big letters.  We all sat there looking at each other without saying a word.  Gregory has many tattoos on his face, neck and arms as well.

After he was sentenced he returned to his seat with the other inmates awaiting their cases to be heard.
