Brownwood Man Leads Police on Chase, Escapes Custody

BROWNWOOD, TX. – A man remains on the loose after leading authorities on a chase around Brownwood according to KTXS.

While the Brownwood Police Department won’t identify the suspect, law enforcement records indicate Joseph Brandt, 38, is the person who escaped from police custody.

An incident report stated an officer responded to a call at the Walmart on W. Commerce Street on Monday afternoon of a man trespassing on the property. An officer spotted Brandt and spoke with him briefly.

But that’s when the situation changed and Brandt hit the gas pedal and fled the scene, according to the report.

The Brownwood County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the pursuit.

Brownwood Assistant Police Chief James Fuller said officers will be seeking a warrant for an arrest.
