Border Patrol Agents Apprehend Homicide Convict in Del Rio

DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brackettville Station arrested a Mexican national who had been convicted of criminally negligent homicide.

“This subject has already demonstrated his propensity to commit serious crimes,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Felix Chavez. “I thank our agents for their hard work and vigilance, which prevents these types of criminals from re-entering our communities.”

On Jan. 6, Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican national after agents followed footprints through a ranch south of Brackettville. During processing at the Brackettville Station, agents discovered that Alejandro Pardo-Castro, 34, had been convicted of criminally negligent homicide in Dallas on Feb. 2, 2012, and was sentenced to serve 18 months in prison. Records checks show that Pardo-Castro was deported to Mexico in 2013.

Pardo-Castro faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 - illegal reentry after deportation which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. His prior order of removal will be reinstated.

The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. To report suspicious activity call the Del Rio Sector’s toll free number at 1-866-511-8727.
