San Angelo Police Nab Man in Southside Manhunt

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo police went on a manhunt for a man Tuesday morning after a male pedestrian refused to stop for an officer.

According to San Angelo police, the man was seen walking through a yard on Avenue Z messing with trashcans and generally acting like he owned the property. An officer witnessed the man milling around and, when observing him walking with the flow of traffic, approached him. The officer asked the man to talk to him.

The man fled on foot prompting San Angelo police to setup a small search perimeter in the area of Ave. Z and San Jacinto St. The man led police on a foot chase through the neighborhood, running through yards and jumping over fences to avoid apprehension, police said.

Police estimate the area of the manhunt was a two-block radius.

The man was found again in the alleyway behind the 600 block of San Jacinto. Once police learned who the man was, they discovered why he was running: Outstanding warrants.

Police said they also found a glass smoking pipe the man discarded during the foot chase.

Police arrested the man for the outstanding warrants and for evading on foot. He was booked into the Tom Green County Jail.

Police are withholding the name of the man arrested pending the outcome of their investigation.
