Odessa Police Arrest Man Following Standoff in North Odessa

 

ODESSA, TX — Odessa Police have made an arrest following a standoff that occurred early this morning in North Odessa.

Wayne Alan Slay, 37, has been arrested for the following warrants: Assault on a Public Servant - Failure to Appear, a third-degree felony, Resisting Arrest - Going off Bond, a Class A Misdemeanor, Assault Causing Bodily Injury (Family Violence), a Class A Misdemeanor, and Driving While Intoxicated - Failure to Appear, a Class B Misdemeanor.

On Nov. 14,  at 5:36 a.m., Odessa Police responded to the 1600 block of East 36th Street in attempt to locate Wanted Subject Wayne Slay. Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject matching the description of Slay inside of the residence.

Officers attempted to make contact with Slay but he refused to come out and barricaded himself inside the residence. The OPD SWAT Team responded to the scene and Slay was eventually taken into custody at approximately 0802 hours. There were no reports of any injuries.

Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Slay was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
