Odessa Police Arrest 3 After Marijuana Merchant Shot in the Face

 

ODESSA, TX -- (OPD Press Release)  Odessa Police have made three arrests in connection to a shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon in Northwest Odessa. Darius Patterson DOB 7-2-99, Tye Kendrick DOB 8-28-98 and Dezjuan Black have all been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon “2nd Degree Felony” and Evading Arrest or Detention “Class A Misdemeanor”.

On November 12, 2017 at approximately 1444 hours, Odessa Police responded to 42nd and Wrangler in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an 18-year-old complainant, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the face. The complainant advised that he met three unknown male subjects to sell them marijuana.

The complainant reported that after they got into an argument about the price, one of the three suspects pulled out a gun  and shot the complainant in the head. The complainant was transported to Medical Center Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers then responded to the area of Walnut and Melody Lane in reference to three subjects jumping fences.

Upon arrival, officers observed two male subjects matching the description of the shooting suspects, who evaded officers but were caught and placed into custody. All three suspects were located and identified as Patterson, Kendrick and Black. All three suspects were transported to OPD and interviewed by detectives.

Investigation revealed that Black shot the complainant in the head while they were sitting in the backseat of a vehicle. All three suspects acted in concert to commit an aggravated assault. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, all three subjects were charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Jail.
