To Catch A Truck Thief

 

SAN ANGELO,TX – On Oct. 24 at 4:30 a.m., Angelo State University Police received a call for a stolen vehicle in the Texan Hall parking, P-23.  After reviewing camera footage police determined a white male entering a white Dodge Ram pickup and drive away within minutes.

Police described the suspect as 18-25 years of age, white male with a slender build, medium length dark hair in tan shorts and a dark colored t-shirt.

Around 4:15 p.m. the same day, University police observed the truck being driven on S. Van Buren while searching the campus and surrounding neighborhoods for the vehicle.  After a short chase, the occupant of the vehicle stopped and fled on foot in the 1700 block of Greenwood.  The San Angelo Police Department and Angelo University police department were able to arrest the subject and recover the stolen truck.

18-year-old, Nathaniel Devon Childress, was arrested for  unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest detention, criminal trespass and two warrants.

These were not the only vehicles reported stolen during the timeframe and in the area.  Both departments remind everyone to be sure to lock their cars and remove anything of value.
