San Angelo Police Issue Multiple Citations in School Zones Monday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- (SAPD Press Release) On Monday, the San Angelo Police Department’s Traffic Section conducted a School Zone Traffic Enforcement Operation utilizing LIDAR.

According to SAPD Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez, Police issued a total of twenty-eight (28) citations during the operation, which ran from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. at the Central Freshman campus, Trinity Lutheran, McGill Elementary, Crockett Elementary, San Jacinto Elementary, TLCA Elementary, Bowie Elementary, Holiman Elementary, Glenmore Elementary, and Bonham Elementary. Breakdown for citations:

Driving While License Invalid: 1

Other/Misc. Violations: 6

Child Safety Seat: 2

Speeding: 19

Warnings: 7

Following the School Zone Operation, additional LIDAR Traffic Enforcement was conducted targeting westbound traffic in the 1700 block of East Houston Harte until 10:00 a.m.

Officers issued a total of thirty-six (36) citations during the operation. Breakdown for citations:

Speeding: 26 (Highest speed 86 MPH)

Other/Misc. Violations: 10

Warnings: 3

As a reminder, the Texas Transportation Code requires drivers nearing stopped emergency vehicles with lights activated to change lanes or slowdown by 20 MPH below the speed limit. Failing to take these actions endangers personnel who provide critical and life-saving services.
