San Angelo Teen Sentenced to Five Years in Prison for Shooting a Man

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- District Judge Brad Goodwin Thursday sentenced 18-year-old Terrie Sparks to five years in prison for shooting a man in 2016.  

According to court documents, Sparks was accused of chasing down a hispanic man and shooting him in the hip at an apartment complex in the 3100 block of W. Beauregard.  A woman driving by saw the shooting and helped the victim call for an ambulance.  The victim survived the shooting.  

Sparks was jailed in December of 2016 and will get credit for time served.  He pled guilty to one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon which is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.  Sparks took the plea deal offered by the state which sends him to the Texas Department of Corrections for five years.  

Sparks will turn 19 next month.
