Local Man gets Deferred Adjudication for Breaking into Dozens of cars at ASU

SAN ANGELO, TX -- 21-year-old Dominique Jamal Odoms was sentenced to three years deferred adjudication after pleading guilty to information on engaging in organized criminal activity.  Odoms and two other defendants were arrested for breaking into 15 to 20 vehicles at Angelo State University on September 6, 2016.

Odoms, a graduate of Texas Leadership Charter Academy in San Angelo, along with 19-year-old Jaden Rene Johnson and 19-year-old Jamon Rilley Gideon are accused of breaking into 15 to 20 vehicles in the parking lot of ASU’s Centennial Village at 2675 W. Ave. N and stealing multiple items including an iphone charger, a bible, a Linguistics textbook, Ray ban shades, backpacks, and many other items.

Court documents indicate most of the items were returned but Odoms was ordered to pay $2,355 in restitution along with his co-defendants.

In exchange for his plea of guilty, the state dropped a burglary of a habitation charge.  Odoms was accused of breaking into a dorm room at Carr Hall and stealing a Macbook Pro.

Odoms will be on probation for three years.  If he breaks probation, he could be sentenced to between 180 days and two years in prison and a face a fine of up to $10,000.
