Drug Investigation Leads to Arrest and Seizure of 3.3 Pounds of Methamphetamine

 

SAN ANGELO, TX --A 45-year-old Abilene man was arrested in San Angelo Tuesday after Police caught him with nearly 3.30 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

Members of the San Angelo Police Department’s Street Crimes Division (SCD) located Kenneth Collins, who was a person of interest in an ongoing narcotics trafficking investigation, driving a white 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck near the 4300 block of W. Houston Harte.

Collins was stopped in the 600 block of E.  Houston Harte Expressway after he made a traffic violation.   During the stop, San Angelo Police Service Dog Duke conducted an open air sniff around the vehicle and subsequently alerted Officers to the presence of contraband.

During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Officers located approximately 3.30 pounds of suspected narcotics, which field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Collins was arrested for First Degree Felony Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and transported to the Tom Green County Jail where he remains on $100,000 bond.
