San Angelo Man Pleads Guilty to Deadly Conduct in Drive By Shooting

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Jesse Ray Baca plead guilty Monday to one count of deadly conduct in the July 2016 drive by shooting on 19th Street in San Angelo.  

In a plea deal before District Judge Barbara Walther in the Tom Green County Courthouse,  attorneys agreed to dismiss an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in exchange for Baca’s plea of guilty to the lesser deadly conduct charge.  The third degree felony punishment range is two to ten years in state prison with up to a $10,000 fine.

Baca was arrested following an investigation into the drive by.  Baca and Martin Pena were accused of shooting at another person from a vehicle in two separate incidents.

District Judge Barbara Walther accepted the guilty plea and sentenced Baca to 8 years in state jail and $7,500 in restitution.  Baca has been in the Tom Green County Jail since July of 2016 and will receive credit for time served.
