Man Issued Probation for Aggravated Assault With a Knife is Back in Jail

SAN ANGELO, TX – On Monday, 29 people were arrested in Tom Green County. One of the more serious charges was for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.

On March 11, 2015, Christopher Sandoval, 37, threatened to kill his girlfriend, himself, and the four children living in his residence at 1929 Raney St.

Sandoval held a steak knife over the victims head while making the threat, according to court documents. During the assault, he slapped the victim in the face and punched her in the jaw leaving a red mark.

The victim asked Sandoval to come outside so they could talk and to get him away from the children. Sandoval had been drinking alcohol at the time of the assault.

As Sandoval began to head outside with the victim and her daughter, he closed the door and locked them outside the apartment. He then threatened to kill the three children that were still inside, according to court documents.

The victim began banging on the door asking for help. The defendant then opened the door and was told to get out of the apartment by the victim.

Sandoval began to walk towards the victim with the knife in hand, but instead dropped the knife on the ground and waited for police to arrive at the scene.

Following his arrest, Sandoval admitted to San Angelo Police Department officers that he threatened to kill his girlfriend with a knife. He was subsequently transported to the jail and booked with a $50,000 bond.

Sandoval pled guilty to the offense in November of 2015 and was issued six years probation.

Sandoval was committed by order of the court into the Tom Green County Jail for this charge just before 2:30 p.m. on Monday. He has no bond listed at this time.

Court documents show the amended conditions of Sandoval’s probation regarding the violations of purchasing marijuana and failing to complete the required community service hours for February and May of 2017.

He will subsequently be placed in the Substance Abuse Felony Punishment Facility as a result of these violations.
