Teenager Who Suffered Gunshot Wound To The Head Has Died

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Over the past few weeks, San Angelo has seen several "accidental shooting" cases involving minors. A press release from the San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) has now confirmed that one of the juveniles shot has died.

The press release, published by SAPD's Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez, stated  that the 15-year-old victim from the May 4 accidental shooting succumbed to his injuries on Friday, May 28. A preliminary autopsy report listed the teenagers cause of death as complications from a gunshot wound to the head.

The teenager suffered a gunshot wound to the head, after he and two of his friends were playing with a firearm.

The teenager, identified as Hunter Allen Bradford, was rushed to Shannon Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Initially, the juvenile who shot the victim was transported to Police Headquarters for questioning and then transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Detention Center. While at the Detention Center, the juvenile was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Any offense enhancements for the original charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon will be referred to the District Attorney's Office for review.

The three-year-old male who was shot on May 22, has since been released from the hospital.  During the investigation, detectives discovered that the three-year-old was in the living room with several family members when the victim retrieved a loaded handgun from the couch and shot himself in the face. Charges are pending and the investigation is still ongoing.

The SAPD has issued no update on the June 1 shooting that left a 14-month-old injured.
