Man Arrested In Front of Icon Cinema After Evading Arrest

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS - A 41-year-old man, Tony Hernandez, was arrested this afternoon in North San Angelo on multiple charges after attempting to evade San Angelo Police.

Earlier this afternoon, police were dispatched to a vacant property in the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Drive for a report of an unwanted subject. As police were en route, they learned that no one was supposed to be inside the property.

Upon arrival, police detected someone inside and attempted to enter; however, a man, later identified as Hernandez, tried to prevent the police from entering.

After successfully entering the property, police discovered that Hernandez had fled. Nearby witnesses alerted police officers to Hernandez's direction of travel and a foot pursuit throughout the surrounding area began.

Shortly thereafter, the chase ended in the parking lot of Icon Cinema, located at 2020 N. Bryant Blvd. There, Hernandez was taken into custody without further incident. During a search, officers also located marijuana.

Hernandez was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with five outstanding City warrants, Criminal Trespass of Habitation, Evading Arrest Detention, and Class B Possession of Marijuana.
