Update

Lt. Christina Lopez with the Tom Green County Sheriff's office said today, at 7:56 a.m., a TGCSO Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle stopped at North Van Buren and Greenwood, but as the Deputy was approaching the vehicle, three suspects inside the vehicle fled the scene, evading from the deputy.

"At that time, a vehicle chase ensued, and [the suspects] led the deputies through residential areas at excessive speeds," said Lopez. "Texas DPS was also assisting in attempting to stop the vehicle as it evaded."

Lopez said the vehicle finally crashed into a building on Monroe and Beauregard.

"At that time, the three occupants exited the vehicle and evaded on foot, so a foot chase ensued," Lopez continued. "Tom Green County Deputies, along with DPS and San Angelo Police Department, attempted to locate the suspects."

Two of the suspects were located and apprehended, and the third remains at large. A warrant will be issued for that suspect's arrest.

Lopez said the suspects in custody are a male and female. This is an ongoing investigation, so no names are being released at this time.

Additionally, during the investigation, officials confirmed the vehicle was stolen.

Lopez said TGCSO will be conducting the investigation on the traffic chase. SAPD will work the investigation on the crash.

"All agencies worked well together," said Lopez, which resulted in the quick apprehension of these suspects.

UPDATE 1:55 P.M.

This afternoon, TGCSO provided an update on this morning's chase of three suspect's in a stolen vehicle, and identified one of the suspects as Alfonso Andrew Silva, 25.

In a press release, officials re-confirmed that, at 7:56 a.m., a TGCSO deputy observed a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit on South 19th street. The deputy activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop on a blue four-door passenger car at N. Van Buren and Woodlawn Drive. As the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated and sped away; a vehicle chase ensued.

"The fleeing vehicle traveled above posted speed limits and disregarded traffic stop signs as it traveled through residential streets on the north and south sides in San Angelo in an attempt to elude deputies," said TGCSO. "As the vehicle traveled north on W. Beauregard Ave, the driver attempted to make a left turn onto S. Monroe but was unsuccessful and crashed into the All Vac Center building. The three occupants in the vehicle fled the scene on foot north of the crash site."

TGCSO officials added that a male suspect, Silva, was apprehended on South Madison Street while the female suspect was taken into custody near the crash site.

TGCSO said, "The third suspect, a Hispanic male, is still at large."

San Angelo Medics were called to the scene and transported the female suspect to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and she has yet to be officially booked. However, TGCSO will be seeking warrants for both the female suspect and male suspect.

"During the investigation, it was found the vehicle involved in this incident was reported stolen out of Johnson County," noted TGCSO.

As a result of the investigation, Silva was booked for Evading Arrest Detention W/Vehicle or Watercraft, a State Jail Felony, and Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, also a State Jail Felony.

"The punishment for a State Jail Felony is not more than 2 years or less than 180 days, with a fine not to exceed $10,000.00," TGCSO said. "This is an ongoing investigation and further arrests are expected. No other information will be released at this time."

This is Silva's 13th arrest in Tom Green County.

As stated previously, TGCSO was assisted by San Angelo Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety.
