Texas DPS Raises Cash Reward for January's Most Wanted Fugitive

AUSTIN, TX –  The Texas Department of Public Safety has raised the cash reward prize to $12,500 for any tips that will help capture Freddie Alaniz, 36, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive featured this month.

Alaniz is wanted for murder, sexual assault of a child and possession of marijuana. For murder, Alaniz is wanted for a 2006 aggravated assault case in San Antonio for allegedly stabbing a man during a fight. Alaniz was initially arrested for the offense and was able to make bail; however, after posting bail, he fled and has been a fugitive ever since. The victim from Alaniz’s alleged attack later died as a result of his injuries. Furthermore, in February of 2016, Alaniz was arrested in Zavala County for sexual assault of a child.

DPS said, “Alaniz has ties to the town of La Pryor, Texas (Zavala County), [and] his criminal history also includes assault causing bodily injury, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.”
