Midland Sergeant Arrested for Family Violence

 

MIDLAND, TX- Sgt. Guadalupe Bretado, 43, a Midland police sergeant is under investigation after his arrest for family violence.

Bretado was booked into the Midland County Jail Friday afternoon, Dec. 30. Bretado was charged with Assault/Family Violence, a Class A Misdemeanor, as well as interfering with an emergency call following an investigation into a disturbance.  

CBS 7 reported that the Midland Police officers were called out to the Sundance Creek Apartments at 1:22 p.m. on Friday.

“Investigation of the scene led police to believe the Bretado had assaulted his girlfriend, and had interfered when she tried to call 911 by taking her phone away from her,” CBS 7 said.

When police arrived on scene, they arrested Bretado.

The City of Midland confirmed that Bretado has been employed with the department for over 16 years. He's assigned to the Police Division at the Midland International Air & Space Port, CBS 7 reported.

As of now, Bretado has been placed on administrative suspension pending the outcome of the investigation.
