SAPD Arrest Two Men for Stabbing on Preusser Street on Christmas Eve

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Police arrested two men, 53-year-old Willie Bowman and 58-year-old Verdell Lewis, in connection to a stabbing at a local apartment complex on Christmas Eve.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer, said both men were arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The arrests are the result of a lengthy investigation at the El CED apartment complex, 317 Preusser St., by SAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division.

“The investigation began around 9:40 p.m. when San Angelo Police were dispatched to Shannon Medical Center for the report of a stabbing,” said Officer Gonzalez. “Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 27-year-old San Angelo man who was suffering from a laceration to his arm. Officers learned the man was cut by a knife following an altercation with Bowman and Lewis outside the man’s apartment. The man’s wound is said to be non-life threatening.”

Around the same time, officers were dispatched to the apartment complex for the report of a fight, and discovered the two calls were connected. Bowman and Lewis were located at the scene, along with physical evidence of the assault.

“Bowman and Lewis were transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident and are being held in lieu of $20,000.00 bond,” noted Gonzalez. “The men are acquaintances.”
