San Angelo Man Who Burglarized Residence Gets Trapped in Fence

SAN ANGELO, TX - At around 12:30 p.m. this afternoon, San Angelo Police were dispatched to a residence in the unit block of W. 23rd for a possible burglary in progress. When they arrived, officers received information that the suspect had just left the area on foot, eastbound in the south alley, and that his first name was Chris.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD, said an officer located a subject, later identified as 29-year-old Christopher Allan Sheets, who matched the suspect’s description coming out of the south alley of E. 23rd Street and Volney.

"The officer attempted to ID the man, who said he left his ID at home," said Gonzalez. "The subject then ran from the officer. Officers converged on the area, and the suspect was located approximately 30 minutes later, trapped in a fence behind a residence in the 2200 block of Volney."

At this time, it is unclear if a burglary occurred and that portion of the investigation is ongoing, added Gonzalez. Sheets was charged with Evading Arrest Detention.
