Shots Fired Call Leads to Felony Arrest in Brady

BRADY, TX - On Aug. 28, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Brady Dispatch was notified of a shirtless male walking westbound on Avenue C with some type of rifle in his possession. The caller, moments later, heard at least two shots ring out somewhere near his residence, but he could not see exactly where they came from.

"Officers and Deputy Sheriff's responded to the area and found an individual matching the description given near the 300 Block of East 17th Street (just blocks away from the location provided by the caller)," said Brady Police. "The individual was not in possession of a weapon at the time he was stopped, but was identified as Arnold Vasquez, a 24-year old resident of Brady."

Officials said an on-scene investigation was conducted and Vasquez was found to be in possession of two fully-loaded 7.62 caliber magazines that fit an AK-47 assault rifle. After additional questioning, Vasquez assisted law enforcement in locating the rifle, which he had hidden across the street from where he had been stopped.

Brady Police said, "Vasquez was arrested and charged with Deadly Conduct (a Third Degree Felony), and the weapon/magazines were seized as evidence. Vasquez was then transported to the McCulloch County Sheriff's Office and jailed pending arraignment by a magistrate."

There were no injuries or known property damage in conjunction with this incident, said police.
