Man Arrested After Revelation at Local Church

Seth Moore, 20, of San Angelo, has been charged with criminal trespass, state jail felony criminal mischief damage/destruction to a place of worship, and Class B Misdemeanor possession of marijuana after a bizarre, early morning investigation at the Edmund Baptist Church located at 1405 Edmund Street.

The arrest came after Moore called police just before 12:30 a.m. Monday seeking help for his girlfriend, who he claimed had become trapped inside one of the church’s air conditioning units.

When police arrived, Moore told them his girlfriend became stuck inside the AC unit after they entered the church for a late night rendezvous.  Officers questioned Moore about his dirty clothing and became suspicious of his claims after they located some of Moore’s personal property inside the building.  During the search for Moore’s trapped girlfriend, police observed damage to one of the church’s window frames, the AC unit and a vent.  Moore’s girlfriend, however, was never located.

Church officials told police they wished to pursue charges, confirming Moore did not have permission to be inside the building.

After Moore’s arrest, police searched a bag he had in his possession and located approximately 18 grams of marijuana.

Police suspect Moore may have been under the influence of an intoxicant during the incident.
