Prescription Medications Earn One Man a DWI

Yesterday the Tom Green County Jail booked 20 inmates and released 22 inmates.

Again, theft was the number one reason people were taken to jail, four people were booked for that offense. Public intoxication and driving while intoxicated were the runner ups.

Jonathon Hugh Matthews,27, was among the driving while intoxicated inmates.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, Matthews was involved in a crash. It was discovered that Matthews was intoxicated on prescription drugs. During his arrest a small amount of a controlled substance (under 1 gram) and some prescription drugs that Matthews was not prescribed were found on his person.

Matthews was charged with DWI, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a controlled substance.
