Wednesday Morning Stabbing Suspect Identified

 

Police have identified the suspect from a stabbing earlier today. At 11:14 a.m. this morning, San Angelo Police Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a stabbing in the 1700 block of North Pope.

When police arrived they encountered Ruben Stakes, 42, standing in a yard.  Police also located a 47 year old Hispanic female with multiple stab wounds to various parts of her body.  The female victim was treated by San Angelo Fire Department Medics and transported to Shannon Medical Center.

It was learned through investigation Stakes was in a dating relationship with the female victim and had assaulted the female victim with a knife.  Stakes was taken into custody without incident.

The female victim’s current condition is not known at this time.  The victim did require surgery for her injuries.

Stakes was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member with a Deadly Weapon.

Were there any defensive wounds on him or was this just another case of misogynistic entitlement on his part? I will never understand how people feel they have the right to do this to someone else.

Some people are inclined to become violent with anyone who doesn't give them their way. You have to be very careful about the people you choose to let into your life. They may take everything from you.
