Area DPS Troopers Rescue Missing Child on Amber Alert

OZONA –  A missing child from Corpus Christi was found near Ozona Sunday afternoon. Texas DPS Troopers were traveling eastbound on Interstate-10 at mile marker 352 when they spotted a 1998 White Dodge Caravan approaching them in the opposing lanes. The Caravan matched the amber alert description.

A felony traffic stop was conducted on I-10 westbound, at the same mile marker.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as 23-year-old Austin Edward Carlin and the victim was identified as a 6-year-old female child, matching the identification of the amber alert. Her name was released in the amber alert as Kloe Rose Donohoo.

Corpus Christi Police Department Lt. McMenamy was contacted and notified.  Carlin was apprehended and transported to the Crockett County Jail and the child was transported to the DPS office in Ozona for safety.

According to DFW's WFAA, "Carlin has a mental disability and cannot read, according to police. Carlin met Kloe's family through church and had been staying with family members, police said. The girl's family called police Sunday morning after Kloe turned up missing and Carlin was gone."
