Fiddlestrings Stabbing Suspect Indicted on Felony Charges

Roy “Pig” Chavarria, Jr. was indicted this month by a grand jury for stabbing Jamie Zuniga at Fiddlestrings in November.

According to the indictment filed with the 119th District Court, Chavarria, 33, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault causes serious bodily injury, both second-degree felonies enhanced to the first degree.

The stabbing took place just after 1 a.m. on Nov. 26, when Chavarria and 33-year-old victim Jamie Zuniga got into a verbal altercation. Moving the argument from the inside of the bar to the rear patio, the argument escalated and Zuniga was stabbed.

Zuniga later identified Chavarria by his street name “Pig” in the ICU at Shannon, where he was being treated for his injuries. Chavarria was arrested on Dec. 1 and booked into the Tom Green County Jail. He was released the following day on a $75,000 surety bond.

First-degree felonies are punishable by 5-99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10k.
