Suspect Arrested in Fiddlestrings Stabbing

 

A 32-year-old San Angelo man, Roy Chavarria Jr., was arrested on Monday on aggravated assault charges related to the stabbing that took place at Fiddlestrings Sports Bar Nov. 26.

San Angelo Police Detectives developed information relating to the suspect and a warrant was obtained for the assault.  At approximately 1 p.m.on Dec. 1, San Angelo Police Special Operations Detectives located the suspect driving on the east side of San Angelo. The suspect was stopped and arrested for the felony aggravated assault warrant. Chavarria was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.  

The stabbing occurred following a verbal altercation that began inside the bar but moved to the back patio at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Nov. 26. The victim, 33-year-old Jaime Zuniga, was stabbed on the left side of his chest, police report, and was able to make his way to the front of the bar where he met with responding officers.

Zuniga was transported to Shannon Medical Center where he was being treated for his injuries. Initial evaluation indicates that Zuniga’s wounds are not life-threatening.
