Rising Star Man Dies in ATV Crash Saturday

CROSS PLAINS – A 55-year-old Rising Star man was killed in a single vehicle ATV crash south of Rising Start Saturday.  

According to information released Monday by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Sgt. Marc Couch, Robert Carmel Martin, 55, of Rising Star, was operating a 2003 Honda, Foreman S TRX 450, ATV-quad about 5.3 miles northeast of Cross Plains on Country Rd. 376 Saturday evening.  

The investigation shows that the ATV was traveling east on CR 376 when Martin lost control.  The ATV overturned and he was ejected.  

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Jesse Speer at 6:47 p.m. Saturday.  

The weather was clear and the road conditions were dry.
