3 Large Pickups Ram the Rear of a Dodge Durango and Snarl Traffic

SAN ANGELO, TX — A Dodge Durango trapped three large pickup trucks behind it into a crash near the Walmart in the 5500 block of Sherwood Way.

According to our reporter at the scene, a Ram 2500 rear-ended the Durango, and a chain reaction ensued. A Ford F150 rear-ended the Ram and then a larger F-250 slammed into the rear of the F-150.

There was an ambulance at the scene but we did not see anyone get into it to be whisked away to the Shannon ER.

Traffic was snarled for about an hour while police traffic investigators and the fire department cleared the scene.

The suddenness of the stop by the Durango may have been a contributing factor that started the chain-reaction crash. However, we are not ruling out inattention by the three pickup truck drivers either. According to Texas traffic laws, 95 percent of the time, the fault is of the driver who runs into the back of another vehicle. Another scenario is one of the pickups rear-ended the vehicle ahead and pushed the Ram 2500 into the back of the Durango. Police will let the insurance companies hash it out.

The crash happened just before noon and the roadways were dry and skies clear.
