Driver Killed in Icy Crash on U.S. 277 in Taylor County

 

BUFFALO GAP, TX -- A 27-year-old Houston man died in a two vehicle crash on U.S. 277 12 miles south of Buffalo Gap Wednesday.  

According to Department of Public Safety Sergeant Fred Biddle of Abilene, Jose Ines Herrera-Acuna was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on U.S. 277 when the vehicle hit a patch of ice.  He lost control of his vehicle and spun into the  southbound lake striking a 2017 International box truck driven by 57-year-old Mark Anthony Kirvin of Abilene.  

Herrera-Acuna was pronounced dead at the scene.  Kirvin was not injured.  Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.  

Sgt. Biddle says the crash is still under investigation.
