One Killed in Mitchell County Roll Over Crash

 

COLORADO CITY, TX -- One person was killed and two others injured when the tread came off a rear tire causing a pickup to hit a guardrail head on and flip over on I-20 in Mitchell County east of Colorado City at approximately 6:30 p.m. Monday night. 

According to Department of Public Safety Trooper Sgt. Fred Biddle, the driver of the vehicle 51-year-old Clemente Gallegos Ramos of Dallas was pronounced dead at the scene. 77-year-old Juventina Ramos of Durango sustained serious injuries and was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock.  

Maria Gallegos, 40, of Dallas sustained non life threatening injuries and was also taken to UMC Lubbock.   

The DPS says the 1999 Dodge pickup was traveling westbound on I-20 when the tread separated from the left rear tire.  The vehicle went into a skid and hit the guardrail then flipped over onto its top,  Road conditions were clear and dry.  

This is an ongoing investigation.
