Single-Vehicle Accident Causes Traffic Jam on Houston Harte Expressway

SAN ANGELO, TX  — Shortly before 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, drivers traveling eastbound on Houston Harte came across a single-vehicle accident.

Officer Mark Calvert, with the San Angelo Police Department (SAPD), stated that the driver of a red passenger car ran off the highway, just west of the nearby overpass, overcorrected in the loose gravel, lost control and struck the inside guardrail. The driver continued to loose control and crashed into a concrete barrier on the outside of the two lanes before coming to a stop.

The driver was taken to Shannon with non-incapacitating injuries.

Officer Calvert stated that citations are pending further investigation.

Home motors has responded to the scene and has transported the vehicle away from the roadway and drivers should be able to drive without delay on Houston Harte within the next 30 minutes.
