Another Utility Pole Damaged After Two-Vehicles Collide on N. Main St

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Just before 5 p.m this evening, a two-vehicle accident  in the 700 block of N. Main St. sent one driver to the hospital after colliding with a utility pole.

San Angelo Police Department Officer Walsh responded to the crash. Walsh said a Silver Toyota and a gray Kia Optima were heading east on N. Main St., coming across the bridge, when the Kia attempted to make a turn onto the Houston Harte frontage Rd. from Main St.

Officer Walsh stated that for an unknown reason, the driver of the Toyota hit the curb of the bridge causing his vehicle to cross the lanes of traffic and collide with the Kia. The collision caused the Toyota to keep moving forward until it hit a nearby utility pole.

The power to the intersections signal lights were cut-off as a result. It is unknown how long the Houston Heart/N. Main St. intersection will remain without power.

Officer Walsh added that the driver of the Toyota was transported to Shannon with unknown injuries. The driver of the Kia was unharmed.

The driver of the Toyota was cited for Failing to Maintain a Single Lane of Traffic and Failure to Maintain Speed. It is unknown if alcohol was involved in the crash or if speeding caused the Toyota to hit the curb.

This crash is still under investigation.
