Car Catches Fire After Colliding With a Livestock Trailer on US HWY 277

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Yesterday evening, at around 10:46 p.m., a black Dodge Charger attempted to pass a sports utility vehicle on US HWY 277, when it collided with a livestock trailer being towed by a pick-up truck that was turning eastbound onto orient road in front of the sports utility truck.

The collision caused the Dodge to catch on fire in the engine compartment. The Quail Valley Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire.

In a statement from Lt. Lopez with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office the only person injured during the accident was the driver of the Dodge who was transported to a local hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

Home Motors arrived on scene late last night to tow the Dodge and the livestock trailer.

The driver of the Dodge Charger was issued three citations: Failure to Control Speed, Passing When Unsafe, and Expired Registration.
