Mechanical Issues May Be To Blame For Afternoon Accident

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- A single-motor vehicle accident was the cause for some commotion across the street of Panchita's Tortilla Factory this afternoon.

After leaving the Panchita's parking lot this afternoon, a woman driving a white Nissan Xterra crashed into a nearby business after the Nissan lost control and left the roadway.

On-Scene San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) Sgt. Cade Solsberry stated that according to the driver and witnesses of the accident, the vehicle lost control and fishtailed across the road and struck a nearby building located at 2421 N. Chadbourne.

Nobody was seriously injured. Employees of the business the vehicle hit were not inside the building at the time of the accident.

At this time Sgt. Solsberry can not say for certain if this accident was due to a mechanical  issue and/or the driver, as witnesses told officers that the cars' brake lights were on but the vehicle was not stopping before impact.

The driver of the Nissan added that she had been experiencing mechanical issues with her Xterra for a while and was in the process of having it worked on.

No citations were issued. The damage to the building is being investigated.
