Trusty Old Chevy Truck Saves Driver in Multi-Turn Rollover Crash

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Tom Green County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a rollover crash of a red Chevrolet Avalanche just before 4 p.m. Saturday. Initial reports were of serious injuries in a single vehicle rollover and Airmed 1 was launched, according to radio traffic.

Meanwhile, on the ground, a passer by witnessed the aftermath of the crash and stopped to render aid. The passer by helped the driver escape the vehicle.

Therefore the driver wasn’t ejected and was wearing a seatbelt, according to our observations at the scene. The man who helped the driver escape said the driver was coherent and speaking in complete sentences.

Shortly thereafter, an ambulance arrived and transported the driver to Shannon Medical Center to get a check-up. Airmed 1 was turned back, according to radio traffic. Quail Valley VFD provided rescue support.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the sheriff’s office. The crash happened on SH 208 about 7 miles north of 50th St. in San Angelo. The roadway was dry and weather dry.
