Trucker Dies in Rollover in Brown County

 

A truck driver lost his life in a single vehicle crash on a rural road near Brownwood on Friday.

According to the Texas DPS, William Marvin Moncrief, male, 53, of Dublin was travelling west on FM 1689, 1.5 miles east of the town of May in Brown County Friday afternoon. The 2005 Peterbilt truck tractor departed the prepared surface and struck the side of a cement culvert. Moncrief over-corrected left, back to the roadway, DPS reported. The over-correction caused the truck tractor to roll.

Moncrief was ejected from the truck during the roll and the Peterbilt came to a rest upright in the south eastbound side ditch.

Moncrief was pronounced dead at the scene.

The speed limit is 60 along this stretch of highway. It was raining and the roadway wet, DPS reported. The crash happened at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
