Sleepy Driver Causes Rollover Crash in Robert Lee

 

ROBERT LEE, TX — The Airmed 1 helicopter ambulance was dispatched to the scene of a rollover crash on the west side of Robert Lee early Saturday evening. The Coke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.

LIVE! saw one vehicle sitting on its side on SH 208 on the west side of Robert Lee, about eight blocks west of the SH 158 intersection.

The conditions of the driver and passengers are unknown, except that at least one of the injured was airlifted to San Angelo.

The crash happened at around 8 p.m.

This crash is currently under investigation, LIVE! will provide an update should more information become available.

UPDATE: Tuesday April 25, 2017 @ 1:00 p.m.

New information has been released regarding the wreck that sent two occupants to the hospital last Saturday night.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a white SUV was traveling south on TX-208 when the driver of a pickup traveling behind them fell asleep at the wheel. The impact from the pickup caused the SUV to roll.

The driver of the SUV was transported to Shannon Medical Hospital via Air Med as the injuries appeared to be critical. The passenger of the SUV was also transported in an ambulance for minor injuries. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

No further details are available at this time.
