Infant Injured in Early Afternoon Accident

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Shortly before 11:30 a.m. this morning, San Angelo Police officers were dispatched to a major motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles in the 3600 block of N Bell Street. A female driver and infant were both sent to the hospital after sustaining unknown injuries.

The two vehicles involved were a 2007 Ford F-150 and a 2015 Chevy Cruze. Officer Brian Bylsma with the San Angelo Police Department said, "all indications in the investigation is that the Chevy Cruze was northbound on Bell Street, entered the curve and ended up going on the wrong side of the road." At the same time, the F-150  truck was south bound leaving the Lone Star Beef area, "when the driver of the F-150 saw the [other] driver coming into his lane. He tried going to the left to avoid [the Chevy]" however, the Chevy driver swerved at the same time and the two ended up colliding, reported Officer Bylsma.

There were two occupants in the Chevy Cruze, a female driver and an infant. The infant was secured in its safety seat, but both child and driver were sent to a nearby hospital for unknown injuries. The single occupant of the F-150 was uninjured.

This is an ongoing investigation as investigating officers need to speak with the female driver of the Chevy, but Officer Bylsma reiterated that all indications lead to the female driver driving on the wrong side of the road. Speed may have played a factor in this crash.

Yes, we have another traffic disrupting incident - this one on an already acknowledged DANGEROUS CURVE - and our NIXLE SYSTEM's protocol BREAKS DOWN and FAILS to inform the traveling public, emergency response entities, and in this case the flow of garbage collection truck traffic to the City Landfill.

What's it dong to take to standardize and MANDATE the uniform use of NIXLE ?!?!?
