Crash Near Brady Sends Three to Hospitals
BRADY, TX - A two-vehicle crash on US Highway 377, some 18 miles north of Brady late Friday afternoon sent three people to area hospitals.
DPS Trooper J.W. Weaver who investigated the crash said that a Jeep carrying a 35 year-old mother and her three children was headed south when it veered into the northbound lane occupied by a Chevrolet Tahoe with five people on board.
The Tahoe swerved to the left to avoid a collision, but, at the same time, the Jeep attempted to correct back to the right and the two met right front to right front. The two cars ended over the center line of the southbound lane.
Two juveniles in the Jeep were airlifted to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo and later lifted to Cooke’s Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth where both are listed as stable.
The Tahoe driven by 48-year-old Armando Villanueva. The front seat passenger was Villanueva's 48-year-old wife who was airlifted to Brownwood Regional Hospital; her condition was not immediately known. Three other passengers in the vehicle were a 17-year-old juvenile and two 72 year-old relatives of the driver.
The driver of the jeep, Courtney Scantlin, was issued a citation for being in the wrong lane while not passing.
