Driver Flees After Running Stop Sign in Walmart Parking Lot, One Injured

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS –  Shortly after 9:30 p.m. this evening, police officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving two cars in the parking lot of the newest Walmart located on South Bryant.

San Angelo Police Officer Clinton Roebuck said, "It appears that a white Mitsubishi Galant ran the stop sign in the parking lot of Walmart out here at 2440 South Bryant" and "struck a truck coming straight through." After a brief investigation, as well as speaking to several witnesses, officer Roebuck confirmed that the driver of the Mitsubishi fled the scene.

"It is currently being worked as a hit-and-run investigation," he said.

No major injuries were sustained, but the driver of the truck did complain of several injuries and left for the hospital in "her own personal vehicle," added Officer Roebuck.

Since the crash happened on private property, no citations were given by SAPD; however, Officer Roebuck reiterated that because someone fled the scene, SAPD will continue to investigate the crash as a hit-and-run case.
